FAQ - Printing reports

Question
Message: excel template file .... does not exist, how do I resolve this?
Answer

If you get the message:

Excel template file does not exist 1

Then you will need supervisor privileges to resolve this message. This is to prevent report template being deleted or accidently altered by general users. If you are not an (Ava) supervisor, please contact one on your team.

All reports in Ava currently use Excel template files to layout and format their contents. If this file does not exsist or is not in the correct location you will get the above message.

If you have only a single machine: then this file will be in its default location: c:\program files\ava pa\template.

If you have a network install then this file will be in location: T:\template (or some such location agreed when the system was installed). This is to allow all users to run any report and have a consistent output. If your machine cannot see this network location then you have a network problem and you should consult your IT people.

Ava can create a blank excel template file (if one does not exist). This is how:

At the bottom of the print reports page there are a row of buttons:

Excel template file does not exist

Click on the one marked setup:

Excel template file does not exist a

The screen will change and look like this:

Excel template file does not exist 2c

The red entry next to the label "Template file" indicates that the file is not present at the path location immediately above.

Excel template file does not exist 3

The path can be set by typing in the (network) path where the Template file will be located. It also has a drop down list which give the locations where template files have been stored previously:

Excel template file does not exist 4

Typically you would select the network path if you are working on a network.

The template file name may still remain red. If this is the case you can create a new blank template file by clicking the "new" button.

Excel template file does not exist 7

In addition at this point you can also change:

Excel template file does not exist 5

The title as displayed in the list of reports (List title)

The report title displayed on the first line of the generated report (Report title)

The description given in the middle of the when the report is selected

Excel template file does not exist 9

You can also make a report appear at the top of the list (of reports by category) by checking the 'preferred' check box.

Excel template file does not exist 8

They will then appear listed like so:

Excel template file does not exist b
