FAQ - Start up messages

Question
A message is displayed and AvaPA exits
Answer

You get the following message displayed when you try to run AvaPA

The version of the Database differs from the application

The program is exiting as a precaution against corrupting data

AvaPA exits

Reason: For some reason AvaPA auto update facility has failed. Please note the versions reported.

You are in a network environment:

1. Check the configuration of Auto Update

Go to the “start” button on your computer, select “all programs”, select the “Ava Pa” folder and then select “Setup auto update”

If the file path indicator is in Red then the update path or files cannot be found.

Auto update config error

In most network environments this is a mapped network drive "U:\ for update.

There should also be T:\ for templates

Check the computer network drive mapping - In environments such as the NHS this will be set by IT support for your computer profile. You will need to contact your organisation’s IT support: normally a person called the network administrator. Only they will have permission to grant you access to this folder.

If the file path indicator is in black then the (Set) update path and files has been found. Double check that this is the correct path – there is often an update folder in Program files/Ava PA. If this is not the network update path then browse for the correct path and select the current AvaPA.exe. The Auto update utility will then update all appropriate files.

Once again your IT support should know the current location and ensure the utility is pointing at the correct folder

Auto update config ok

The AvaPA exe version is the same as that displayed in the original error message.

You are in single user environment, or the above has failed to resolve the issue:

Please contact Ava support
